Fight Infections Naturally

The definition of a pandemic is “disease prevalent over a country or the world”.  Pan American Airline flew around the world until their collapse in 1991.  We were told that millions would die in America alone from Covid unless something drastic was done.  As of this writing, there have been 9.1 million cases and 472,000 deaths globally from the Covid, with 98% of those infected reporting mild symptoms and complete recovery. Our bodies are designed to fight infections naturally.  Of the 7.8 billion people on earth, that death rate works out to 0.00006 as a fraction or 0.006%.

The USA has had 122,000 deaths, out of 330 million works out to 0.0003 or 0.03%.  80% of Covid deaths were in people over age 65 with underlying conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, and lung issues.  The Black Plague of 1347-1351 killed up to 50% of Europe by some estimates.  The Spanish Flu of 1918 killed 50 million people of the 1.8 billion on earth, working out to 2% of the globe.  There was a 90% recovery rate from the Spanish flu.

The authorities reacted in unprecedented manner by shutting down almost everything.  Schools, sports, churches, funerals, weddings, conventions, flights, cruises ships, most businesses, etc.  Nameless government officials decided what was “essential” vs “non-essential” businesses.  39 million Americans applied for unemployment compensation in the weeks following the shutdowns.

Most Americans were under “house arrest” and ordered to stay home.  Throughout nearly 250 years of wars, depressions, and the Spanish Flu no government would have dared to repeal out constitutional rights to peaceful assembly.  Until now.  Half of Americans say that the Covid lockdown has affected their mental health with a 10 fold increase in calls to federal emergency hotlines for stress.

Over 100,000 small businesses have shut down for good.  GDP is expected to fall by at least $2 trillion this year.  The disease was primarily of the old and infirmed yet punished the young people the most in financial and emotional ways.  Can the engines of commerce be restarted before we slip into a recession or depression?  Was the lockdown warranted?

Most deaths occur after age 65: cancer, heart disease, diabetes, kidney failure, stroke, flu, pneumonia, Covid, etc.  What happens is immune senescence, or the aging and failing of the immune system.  Since the HIV crisis first appeared on the world’s radar screen in the 1980s, scientists have learned much about the human immune system.

Fight Infections Naturally

The average adult has about 20 trillion cells that patrol the body with the job of eliminating “non-self” and protecting “self”.  Not an easy job, and much of this job depends on lifestyle factors: attitude, nutrition, microbiome, toxins, exercise, and energy alignment.  For more information on these crucial steps to make your immune system Conan the barbarian against invaders, see 12 Keys to a Healthier Cancer Patient.

Simple Steps to Fight Infections Naturally

There are some simple steps to take to fortify your immune system against Covid or any other infection.  Nutrients that are crucial for immune support include: D, A, C, E, B-6, B-12, B-3, selenium, magnesium, chromium, zinc, iodine, boron, and more.  In one study, Covid patients who had the lowest serum vitamin D levels had a 12 fold increase in the risk of having severe symptoms vs those who had the higher vitamin D levels.  Vitamin D can be produced in the body after sun exposure to naked skin.

Not surprisingly, late winter and early spring are often pronounced the “killing season” by epidemiologists due to the effects of being inside for months during winter.  Among the many illogical rules established by some states was the banning of being outdoors in the sun at the beach or on a park trail.

Fight Infections Naturally with Vitamin C

Iodine is a mineral that is deficient in 30% of people worldwide and is crucial for regulating the efficiency of the immune system.  Seaweed and seafood are your best sources for iodine.  More than 17% of the world’s population are deficient in zinc, which is fundamental for fighting viruses and other immune battles.  The most commonly eaten fruits and vegetables in America, which are the best sources for vitamin C, are catsup, French fries and onion rings, with virtually no vitamin C.  Vitamin C is critical for immune function.  High dose vitamin C has been used effectively to reduce viral loads in Epstein Barr.

Best sources of vitamin A or beta carotene include liver and green and orange fruits and vegetables…again, woefully missing from the American diet.  Vitamin A is essential for effective immune protection.  High dose vitamin A is used effectively around the world for children at high risk for infections, like measles, HIV, malaria, diarrhea.  An estimated 250,000-500,000 people go blind each year due to vitamin A deficiency.

We could go on.  But you get the point.  The effectiveness of your immune system in fighting off infections, including Covid, is heavily dependent on the quality of your nutrient intake.

Suggestions to Improve Your Health Naturally

  • Drink plenty of water.  Your mucus is 99% water and is the original barrier against infections in the upper respiratory tract.
  • Get plenty of sleep.  Sleep deprivation seriously compromises immune function.
  • Get some sunshine, exercise, and fresh air.
  • Eat a diet rich in wholesome plant foods.  Go organic when possible.  Eat foods in as close to their natural state as possible.
  • Take a quality nutrition supplement to fill in the gaps in your otherwise healthy diet.  Vitamins, minerals, and various herbal compounds (including turmeric) can dramatically enhance immune response against infections.
